Handmade Natural Wild Smudge Sticks

Smudge sticks are the most natural form of
incense—they’re just wild plant trimmings,
nothing else. Just light the tip on fire, blow
out the flame and let it smolder. Extinguish
with sand or water when you are done. They’re
also great in the fireplace.

purification rituals. Its beautiful leaf
clusters and enormous flowering stalks burst
forth in the spring, painting streaks of white
against the rusty green hillsides and filling
the air with the pungent scent of wild Sage.

sierra
cedar mini 3" smudge sticks

Sierra Cedar has a wonderful
mountain campfire aroma that makes me
immediately think of the granite rock and
tumbling creek country of the Sierra Nevada,
where it is grows. This classic Western smudge
is the scent of warm summer evenings along the
Tuolumne River, or of stumbling out of your
sleeping bag in the middle of the night, with
the impossibly cold, wood-smoke Sierra air
lighting up your senses.

western
red cedar large smudge stick

WESTERN RED
CEDAR, also known as "Giant Canoe Cedar" for the
massive canoes which were carved out of the
fallen trees by Native Americans, is a signature
tree of the Northwest. When burned, it has a
rich, evocative aroma that always puts me in the
mind of my childhood memories of the Northwest:
walking through the forest, wood-smoke in the
air, thick pillows of moss to press my cheek
against and secret troll hiding places in the
knotted roots of giant, rotting stumps.

Of all the Cedars that grow in
the West, Siskiyou Cedar, with its pungent,
gingery scent and sharp, clarifying energy, is
the most highly sought after for smudging and
incense. Its aroma evokes the wintry coziness of
a woodstove cabin in the deep woods of the
Pacific Northwest and will bring a little of
that Northwest magic into your home, wherever
you may be.

TIP: Don't use
Antibacterial Soaps. Antibacterial is an additive in
many soaps and household cleaners. Approximately
seventy five percent of all liquid soaps contain
antibacterial ingredients. According to a study from
the Columbia University School of Nursing in New
York, antibacterial products do little to prevent
illness. Using them in your home is overkill and can
create resistant super-bugs. It is much better to
just wash your hands thoroughly with a good natural
soap and warm water.
